The Stihl FS56 RC-E Petrol Brushcutter is a light-weight petrol brushcutter with straight shaft, loop handle and ErgoStart. Modern appearance, convenient operation and very simple starting procedure are the highlights of the new generation STIHL grass trimmer range. The number of steps needed to start the machine has been drastically reduced. The frustration of a flooded engine is virtually eliminated. New 2-stroke engine with stratified charge allows fast acceleration, low emissions, reduced fuel consumption.Comes standard with fully adjustable loop handle and AutoCut mowing head.
Features
Reduced-emission engine technology
2-stroke engine with stratified charge. A fuel-free layer of air is created between the burned charge in the combustion chamber and the fresh charge in the crankcase, reducing the amount of fuel lost during the charge cycle. This results in more power with a lower weight, up to 20% lower fuel consumption than regular 2-stroke engines and significantly reduced exhaust emissions.
Manual fuel pump (Purger)
A small fuel pump delivers fuel to the carburettor at the touch of a button. This reduces the number of starting strokes required following extended breaks in operations.
STIHL ErgoStart (E)
STIHL ErgoStart cuts the effort required to start the tool by half, while the starter cord can be pulled at just one third of the normal force. A coil spring between the starter cord and the crankshaft smoothes out force peaks, making them virtually undetectable through the cord itself.
Simplified starting system
Simply set the choke, pump the fuel primer, pull the starter cord and away you go! The running machine then switches off after a brief press of the stop button. Once the machine is at a standstill, the ignition activates again automatically. Thus the ignition is always ready for starting.
Loop handle (R)
The loop handled grass trimmers and brushcutters are ideal for working in areas where space is limited, e.g. thinning between bushes and shrubs.

Very very pleased with this machine. The new easy start pull cord works a treat with minimal effort, coupled with the choke auto disengaging on start up make this very easy to start . This has plenty of power for all jobs around the garden or around the hedge bottoms in the horse paddock, when using the Stihl 2 tooth metal grass cutting blade . This makes cutting long tuff grass and cow parsley a doddle without using loads of strimmer line and with minimal splatter. The machine is well balanced and the always on ignition switch is a real bonus.
I can highly recommend this strimmer and also the service from Radmore and Tucker.

Just set it up and used it for the first time today, nice balanced machine. Time will tell on it’s reliable but being a Stihl product I’m sure it will stand the test of time. This was a replacement for a previous Stihl FS 56 used by our woodland volunteer group. This latest model comes with easy start which is very nice to have. The FS 56 has proved to be a reliable workhorse, so I expect trouble free service from the latest version. The RC-E is light enough and manouverable enough to be used without a strap on difficult terrain but has enough power to cut through small and medium sized brambles, if necessary. Looks good so far . Well made . Replacing an old faithful Hitachi . Similiar spec . This seems to start well . Little effort . Maybe a little more noise and vibration than my Hitachi but that’s only based on a couple of starts and one 30min strim . Good service from R&T . They were happy to answer a couple of pre-order queries . Luckily , I am in their delivery area so received a fully assembled and tested machine .
