Using a chainsaw is hazardous, and even the most experienced operator can become careless, and oblivious to the dangers – especially with a repetitive job like logging. Prolonged periods of using a heavy chainsaw can also produce backache, and increase the likelihood of short cuts taken, so causing accidents. The LogMaster can overcome these problems and is probably the safest sawhorse available. The chainsaw is clamped to the sawhorse, and the weight of the saw is then carried, on the frame, leaving the operator free to hold the log in position with one hand and swing the chainsaw through the log with the other.

The whole weight of the chainsaw is supported by the LogMaster and NOT our back! – the chainsaw is supported by a simple clamping plate, taking the backache out of sawing logs. This simple solution to an old problem makes the job easier, faster, and safer. Anyone with experience of chopping logs will appreciate the value of this clever design. This simple and robust saw horse will change the way you chop logs forever. The LogMaster makes it fast, safe and effortless to operate, unlike the conventional method which requires constant bending, lifting and straining, starting and stopping. So spend more time relaxing in front of the fire and less time working out in the cold!

Takes the effort and strain out of sawing logs – cut more logs in less time!

  • Chopping logs has always been a laborious chores
  • Two hands are never enough
  • Three hands would be invaluable: one to hold the log and two to hold the chainsaw
  • No tools or drilling required
  • Fully adjustable for large or small logs
  • Portable and ultra-safe

I don’t normally write reviews but in this instance I felt it deserved a thumbs up. This is a solid, well made product. I couldn’t find it any cheaper on the web other than with Radmore & Tucker Ltd. Be very wiery of cheaper imitations, they are out there & considerably cheaper but don’t waste your money. I don’t saw logs on a regular basis, I normally dedicate a long weekend or two in the summer months & just get the job done & dusted so it’s all done ready for winter. The log master is a godsend. What I like about it the most is it feels so sturdy & & safe to use. The logs also get cut nicely so once stacked in the log shed, look so cool.
Customer service at Radmore & Tucker was friendly & impressive too. Treat yourself to this if you can, you won’t regret it & your logs will be cut safely & in half the time. Mr P. Aberdeenshire.

I am not one to normally write reviews but this purchase deserves one. It is well made and the assemble instructions are clear. However I wanted to assemble it for left hand use rather than for right hand which is how it arrives. But there are NO instructions for making that alteration or even any mention in the instruction manual that this is indeed possible. This wants correcting. I called the company and tried to speak to the technical dept. No answer and was cut off. Sales were more helpful (actually the accounts dept on that occasion) as they confirmed that yes it was possible to alter to LH use. I made some progress in taking apart and re-assembling but was not 100% sure, and it needed to be right bearing in mind we are dealing with a clamp securing a chain saw.
Rang a 2nd time. Helpful lady re-confirmed that LH was indeed possible and outlined what to do. I was never called back by the chap in the tec. dept (covid meant they where short staffed) but then managed to work it out.
Suggested that they post a video or at least instructions on how to convert to LH use on their website. Interesting to see if and when this is done.
Now up and working. Good solid piece of equipment. Using an old electric chain saw with a 16″ bar and thus far works very well.
Would have been 5 stars but for the issue of converting to LH use.

Very impressed with the build quality of this product – solid and stable. Looking forward to using this in earnest.

Good product at a good price. My only comment is that using a 12″ chain saw is a bit marginal with this – so if you’re buying a saw at the same time I’d go for 14″.

A good piece of kit. Having had large open fires before, but moved to a wood burner, most of our logs are now, annoyingly, just too long . However, cutting them in half means dealing with a log that’s too short to cut comfortably and puts one’s foot dangerously close to the chainsaw blade. This means we either had to improvise some form of clamping mechanism, (per log – tediously slow) , or invest in the Portek. This bench takes all the worry away and does an excellent job. It’s very sturdy and simple to put together. The instructions are clear and the assembly minimal. – unlike its (admittedly) slightly cheaper rival, which comes with no instructions and a lot more assembly. In my opinion the Portek is well worth the slight price increase.

My only concern is the strength of the nut that tightens the measuring rod, (used to get consistent log lengths). The handle is small and plastic and one has to use a lot of force when tightening it, (too much. This could be better engineered ). If anything is going to break it will be this little tightening handle. Time will tell. Worth pointing out that – other than four plastic feet – there is no other plastic. Everything else is made of sturdy metal and good sized bolts.

The only assembly required is fitting the chain guard protector to the pivot bar (one nut) and the pivot bar onto the saw horse, which slides on and is secured with a clip. This – and the measuring rod – attach to the side of the saw horse with the same bolt. The actual saw horse comes pre-assembled, so the complete assembly only requires two bolts! A huge improvement on its main rival. Looking for the usual bag of bolts and nuts? Thankfully it’s not there!

Radmore and Tucker had the best price and delivered very promptly . This is a solid piece of kit that should last and last. All in all I’m very happy.
